Skiing in a Blizzard

1-8-1997

Well, I live in Montana.. it snows, we have big mountains.. we like to ski. A friend dropped in for Christmas from Maryland, so it was decided that I would take him skiing. We planned it for the Sunday after Christmas.. well, Christmas day the blower motor on my heater burnt up. No heat. No defrosters.

The Parking Lot Incident

12-9-1996

Okay, I had a presentation to give for my "day job." This presentation was at a client's site.

I showed up around 7:45, nice 'n early (a change). The snow plow has plowed the snow from each parking isle up into a big pile at the end. It takes up roughly one parking spot from each isle.

304C re-build

The 304C is almost ready for re-install. After 18 months of racing, we lost the #7 connecting rod bearing on Labor Day 2002. The #7 rod had to be replaced, and the #8 wrist-pin was removed, honed, and reinstalled since it galled slightly from lack of oil.

Crank was turned to .020/.020 after wear on the mains was found as well.

The engine is all but back together now.. just need to put the intake, distributor, alt, rear main seal, and other little tidbits back on it and it's ready to go!

Lockright Front Install

Lockright Locker Install

As part of my preparations for the Divide
Ride '98, I installed a Lockright Locker in the front differential of my '77. Two weeks earlier I had told my friends at dinner (after a pre-run for the 'Ride) that I was putting a T19 4spd in, a twin-stick'd Dana 20, and a Lockright. Apparently they didn't all fully believe me. :-)

T15 3spd to T19 4spd Swap

June of 1998

Since I had a close ratio T19 4spd that I had acquired in Eugene, OR last summer just lying around, and my '72 was not going to be needing it for a while (it was tied up in litigation), and my '77 was lacking in the
gearing department, I decided I would swap the T19 in before the Divide Ride '98.

I had one week to get everything done.. Lockright install, 4spd swap, and twin-stick transfer case.

SII Wiring Tips

Scout II Wiring Hints

While wiring my own Scouts, I've come across a few interesting discoveries, and my own
ideas on how to wire things "right." I'll concentrate mostly on adding new accessories,
vs. troubleshooting the "big" problems, or engine wiring, or...
