304C re-build

The 304C is almost ready for re-install. After 18 months of racing, we lost the #7 connecting rod bearing on Labor Day 2002. The #7 rod had to be replaced, and the #8 wrist-pin was removed, honed, and reinstalled since it galled slightly from lack of oil.

Crank was turned to .020/.020 after wear on the mains was found as well.

The engine is all but back together now.. just need to put the intake, distributor, alt, rear main seal, and other little tidbits back on it and it's ready to go!

Photo GalleryIn an effort to improve oiling, I'm going to run an extra quart of oil (7 total) this season, as well as painting the valley with Glyptal to improve oil drainback, and moving from the stock SII "humped" oil pan to a 74-75 truck oil pan which lacks the center hump, for increased capacity.

Hopefully that will fix the oiling issues.

Also moving to a 4bbl carb on a 2bbl intake for a while, until the new 304-4bbl intake is ready..
