I was changing out the front axle U-joints on my '77, and had one of the tires off.. so I thought I'd just test fit it on the racer with the fullwidth, spring over, Travelall Dana 44 rear axle.
Front 3/4 side view:
Rear view - notice how the tire sticks out a bit past the fender:
Side view - to see how the tire "sits" in the wheel well.
This is a picture of the wheel well, uncut thus far. Talk about some clearance for those 33inch meats! I measured 10.5" from the top of the axle tube to the bump stop bracket. That is about 6.5" to 7" of lift over stock.
Just a shot of the racer:
Another side shot of the racer
My 33x12.50 on 15x8 - same tires n' rims - on my '77 Scout II with stock width rear Dana 44 (and 4" suspension lift). Notice how the tire does NOT stick out past the fender lip.
A shot of my one-piece front clip n' cage for the racer:
And this photo - of the "wavey" side of the Scout
That's it for now. I'll draw up a page with all of the details on how I'm going to cut the fender lips and wheel well for clearance when I get there!
