Cascade County 4-Wheelers had a rally over Memorial Day.
John and Pansy Comer made the long drive up in "Yellow" pulling Gryphin. Dave Nuenke didn't make it over from SoDak, and I put a limping Little Devil on the trailer to give it a go - even without 3rd gear and a bent draglink.
Blair Howze joined us in our little group, with his F150.
We convoyed up on Saturday and ran drags. Michelle and I both took the Comers up on the offer to drive Gryphin, and we saved what was left of Devil's 727 for the Obstacle on Sunday. Devil isn't the best drag car as it is, and it's really not a good drag car with a slipping tranny that's already smoked 3rd gear.I managed a 2nd in my Comp Mod class, while Pansy took 1st and Michelle 2nd in their women's Comp Mod class.
We carpooled with Blair back to our place Saturday night to enjoy comfortable beds, showers, and air conditioning. :D
Sunday we ran the obstacles. Devil finished two runs on the obstacle course, and ran around on the Baja course for a while.. no trophies.. but I finished each event.
Gryphin was actually a bit of a surprise (to everyone but John Comer).. Gryphin finished two runs around the obstacle course with respectable times, and then was in the running during the Baja until the Jacob's Ignition blew a fuse on the last lap.
Blair complained that he was able to catch up to the old Ice-racer in the rough stuff, but the moment a flat and/or straight stretch presented itself, Comer would flat foot the accelerator and leave Blair with his 289hi-po in the dust.
After coming home Sunday night, we pushed Devil off my trailer, unhitched it, then emptied the rear seat of the Travelette and we all piled in to head to dinner..
That's when the Pertronix died. We wound up hitching a ride home (after dinner, of course) from my sister - two car loads - then climbed into Tigger, and went back with the 30' strap and towed it home... getting to sleep around 2am! :(
