Powder Coating some 392 tin

After our Fun Days weekend, I had a little time to get started on the powdercoating. I've been bead-blasting stuff for a week or two whenever I have the chance, and it was finally time to fire up the powder gun and the shop oven.

Sunday night, I did the valve covers and the oil filter adapter.

I washed the parts down with Eastwood MetalPrep, then fired up the Chicago Electric powder gun with some almost-IH-red powder.. while the oven was heating to 450.

I sprayed the parts, stuffed 'em in the oven.. 5 minutes later I had full flow-out, turned it down to 400-deg, and 20 minutes later..

Purdy. I still have the tappet cover, water pump housing, intake, motor mount brackets, and oilpan to do.

Some of that stuff is going to the machine shop today for thermoclean and/or bead-blasting there. I'm out of time, and I'm picking up the block and heads tonight, and I don't want the glass beads floating around the shop with an engine in there.
