On my test mule, you can see the 1974/75 staggered rear shocks. It limits how far forward the side plates can be AND how far back. I trimmed a little off the passenger side (bottom in pic) plate to slide the assembly rearward a touch (it was hitting the shock mount). On my Travelette, it has the shocks inboard, thanks to the 9K GVWR and the (older) narrow spring spacing to accommodate dual rear wheels.

Again, this is about where it will wind up. Reference the box-mount "stain"
