Building my Racer!

Racing Reports!
This is supposed to do a decent job of documenting the buildup of my racer.. we'll see how up to date I manage to keep it!

Basically I got bitten by the bug. Here's a little Background Information.

Once I was bitten, I decided to build one.. I was helped by a few friends that pushed n' shoved.. then one guy gave me two Scouts to start with.. OK, fine, I'm building a racer!

I started out with a wrecked ex-racer and a wrecked Camo colored Scout without a motor, trans, or axles. Between the two, along with another motor and a tranny rebuild kit and some gears and a new front axle.. I'm going to create a new racer.

After I got 'em home, I dismantled the Blue racer. Then I had to Move the Camo Scout around front. Thus far, all I've done is put the rear axle in, stripped the front clip off, and Tested how 33s fit. The next webpage coming will be the "what's next" stuff..

4-30-1999 - Some details on how the Chevy full size front axle swap is going.
5-4-1999 - posted two pictures of the racer.. with the front clip on it and the full size front. Racer with Front Clip I've stripped the interior, and started cleaning up the 'cage for installation. I'm waiting on the custom steering knuckle and to repack the Ford hubs so I can move the racer in reach of the welder to repair a broken e-brake bracket, and a broken transmission crossmember mount.
6-9-1999 - rollcage is done and in. Steering column n' box are in. Brake booster & m/c in but not tested. Rear driveshaft in. 727 is together, 304/727 and Dana 20 are IN. Interior is gutted. Knuckle is ready, drag link is ready. 4.88s are in the front axle, I pick it up tonight. New custom radiator mount in-progress. Seat mounting "rail" in progress (getting U-bolted to the rollcage). License plates are in-hand. Truck is now flat-black. It's all coming together..
7-21-1999 - Some details on the ordeals I went through to.. Make my FIRST RACE on the 4th of July. Too bad a blew the motor up.. now I'm dropping in the spare and getting ready for RMIHR. I'll have photos of the race scanned n' HTML'd when I get a chance.. WHAT FUN!
9-16-1999 - I just had a chance to post some pictures of the racer on the RTI Ramp at RMIHR scoring a 950 @ 25-degrees! Also, don't forget to look at the Race Reports.. there are video clips from the race on Labor Day weekend in Cascade.

While at RMIHR, I picked up a new Sponsor.. John Glancy and Super Scout Specialists.

There it is.. short, sweet, to the point.. and just a beginning! I only hope I can make my way out of the garage long enough to document it.. it's so easy to just STAY out there and GET STUFF DONE. :-)
